About the Program
The UT Health First Responder Counseling Service is dedicated to improving the lives of active and retired SAPD officers and other first responders, as well as their families, by addressing a variety of concerns. At any given time, at least 1 in 3 first responders experience problems like stress, depression, anxiety, and PTSD that impact how they live life, do their jobs, and interact with their families and friends. We’re here to help by providing easy-to-access, confidential counseling services. Our aim is to equip you with the tools to function at your best, be there for those who need you, and live the life you want to live.
As part of UT Health, we are able to provide high-quality interdisciplinary services. We offer person-centered care, which means we tailor therapy to focus on the goals that you want to accomplish.
Our approach emphasizes evidence-based practices. We value care that has been shown to be effective for the specific concerns of each person. We also use a skills-focused approach, so that you will be able to put counseling techniques into practice on your own.
